When we launched Security Confidential, we weren’t trying to create just another cybersecurity podcast. We had a much simpler goal: make cybersecurity conversations accessible to the people who need them most. As a managed security services provider, we’ve spent years helping organizations navigate an increasingly complex threat landscape. But we also recognized a major gap. Many small and medium-sized businesses don’t have the budget to hire world-renowned cybersecurity experts, attend exclusive industry conferences, or bring in specialized consultants. That shouldn’t prevent them from learning from the best minds in the industry. So we decided to bring those experts directly to them.
From a Passion Project to 210 Conversations
As we close the book on Season 19 and prepare to launch Season 20 on August 6, we’re proud to celebrate a milestone we never imagined when we recorded our very first episode: 210 episodes of Security Confidential.
What began as a passion project has become one of the ways Dark Rhiino Security fulfills its mission of educating business leaders, IT professionals, and anyone who wants to better understand today’s cybersecurity landscape. Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of sitting down with some of the brightest minds in cybersecurity, technology, government, and business. These conversations have covered everything from ransomware and phishing to artificial intelligence, cyber insurance, digital identity, leadership, compliance, privacy, and the future of online security. Every conversation is built around one simple idea: if we can help even one organization avoid becoming the next victim of a cyberattack, the episode was worth creating.
Learning From the Best
One of the greatest strengths of Security Confidential has always been our guests. We’ve welcomed internationally recognized cybersecurity journalist Jim Love, who shared practical insights into artificial intelligence and the evolving risks surrounding modern technology. We’ve spoken with Dan Lohrmann, former Chief Security Officer for the State of Michigan, about leadership, fraud, and the future of cybersecurity. Cybercrime expert Brett Johnson, once one of America’s most wanted cybercriminals, gave listeners a rare look inside the mindset of online criminals and how businesses can better protect themselves. Aaron Painter, CEO of Nametag, explored the growing threat of identity fraud, deepfakes, and social engineering. Troy Hunt, creator of Have I Been Pwned?, helped explain why password management and identity security remain essential for every organization. Our audience has also learned from leaders including Susan Bennett, Chris Rock, John Shegerian, Greg Schaffer, Tammy Klotz, Christian Espinosa, Shayla Treadwell, Stacey Champagne, Ken Underhill, and many others who have generously shared decades of experience with our listeners. Each guest brings a unique perspective, but they all share one common goal: helping organizations become more resilient against cyber threats.
Education Has Always Been the Mission
Cybersecurity changes every day. New threats emerge. Technology evolves. Artificial intelligence reshapes both defense and attack strategies. That means education can never stop. Security Confidential has never been about selling products or creating fear. Instead, we’ve focused on having honest conversations that help business owners, executives, IT professionals, and curious listeners understand cybersecurity in plain language. We believe informed leaders make better decisions, and better decisions create stronger businesses. Every episode is another opportunity to bridge the gap between highly technical cybersecurity experts and the organizations that need their knowledge the most.
Thank You for Being Part of the Journey
We’re incredibly grateful to every guest who has generously shared their expertise, every listener who has tuned in during their commute, workout, or workday, and every subscriber who has supported the show by sharing episodes with colleagues and friends. Your encouragement has helped transform what started as a small educational project into a growing community dedicated to making cybersecurity knowledge more accessible for everyone. As we begin Season 20, we’re more excited than ever about the conversations still to come.
